These rich chocolate chip cookies are soft and chewy in the centre with crisp edges. They come together fast, and are easy enough for kids and non experienced bakers to master on the first try. Enjoy this treat with a glass of milk and the whole family will be asking for more!
Sift flour, baking soda, baking powder, and salt into a large mixing bowl.
Melt butter in a saucepan. In a separate bowl add both sugars, vanilla, and melted butter and whisk to combine. Next add the two eggs and egg yolk one at a time fully incorporating before adding the next egg.
Mix wet and dry ingredients until just combined and no dry spots of flour remain.
Roughly chop semisweet chocolate into chunks of varying sizes and fold into the dough.
Cover the bowl with plastic wrap and refrigerate for at least 30 minutes and up to overnight. Preheat your oven to 375F while the dough is resting.
Once ready to bake, line a baking sheet with parchment paper and scoop out 2 ounce balls of dough (a bit larger than a golf ball) evenly spaced onto your baking sheet.
Bake for 14-16 minutes. Once out of the oven let cool on a wire rack for at least 10 minutes before enjoying with a glass of milk!
